My 2019 At Belfast

2019 Reflection At Belfast School

I have really enjoyed my year at Belfast, I first came to Belfast 6 years ago but I left after 2 terms. Now I've come back again as a year 8. Unfortunately I've only been able to be here for a year as I'm leaving for high school next year, but it's been a really great time. I've made so many friends and we've done many things together. Netball, school trips, after school activities, making friends has been one of my favourite things at Belfast. I've participated in many activities, which helped me get into the high school I wanted to. I've done Music lessons, kapahaka, choir, netball and tournaments, gone to centrals for 3 sports and got into the Jump Jam Xtreme category with my amazing team and friends. I wish I got the opportunity to come to Belfast earlier and been able to apply for a prefect role but it's still been awesome.

Doing the "Box Step." We will be performing this on Graduation day with our parents. We look forward to it very much.

Speech Syndicate Finals

This is a reflection on my speech presentation at the syndicate finals. I did my speech on the topic "Why We're So Addicted To Our Devices" My speech is a persuasive speech persuading parents to be less harsh on their children when it comes to them being on their devices. I was very nervous I was even shaking half the time, messing up some of my words. In the end I got through it and I'll be presenting at the school finals next week.

A Remake Of The Blind Man And The Hunter

The Blind Man And The Hunter

(Remake)

Once upon a time there was a small cottage in the middle of the Amazon rain forest.
The house was a sturdy house made of stone and wood. In that small cottage lived a beautiful
woman and her father, who was blind. The beautiful woman would always cook simple things,
like vegetables and bread she’d get from other communities. The woman and the blind man liked
to live far away from other civilization. They liked the privacy. One day a man from a nearby town
went hunting in the Amazon Forest, very close to where the woman and blind man were living.
He walked along until he could smell the pleasant aroma of fresh bread, right out of the oven.
He followed the smell until it lead him to the small cottage where he saw the beautiful woman,
through the window, taking the bread and putting it down to cool. He went up to her and
introduced himself, they both soon enough fell in love, got married and the hunter decided to
move in with the woman and her father.

Everyday the hunter would go out and hunt for food, he’d always bring home something to do
with protein and he always sang a song on his journeys “a hunting I will go, a hunting I will go,
I seek to find and leave nothing behind, a hunting I will go.” When he got home he would
always give the food for his wife to cook. After hunting he would just lay in his bed and sleep.
He never thanked his wife for the food she made him. He’d just eat, and then go back to his bed.
He was a very selfish man.

One day, at dinner the blind man said to the hunter “Do you think tomorrow, I could go out
hunting with you?” There was a silent pause, then the hunter burst out laughing “Ha ha ha, you?
Go hunting with me?!? You silly old man blind people can’t hunt!” The blind man shrugged and
kept eating. The next day at dinner the blind man asked again, the hunter said no. He asked
again, and again, and he had asked the hunter at least 100 times before the hunter finally
agreed, because he was very irritated at this point. So the next day they set off into the Amazon.

They were walking along while the hunter was singing his song, until suddenly the blind man
said, “Stop! There’s a trail of fire ants right ahead of us, about 2 metres away.” The hunter was
confused, how could he know if he’s blind? They peered up ahead and there indeed was, a
trail of ferocious fire ants, swarming a dead spider. “How did you know?!” Asked the hunter in
surprise. “I could hear them in the leaves” Said the blind man. So they went around the swarm
and on they went.

A few minutes later they came to a river and decided they could go fishing there, until the blind
man said “Wait! There’s a bunch of Black Caiman (Alligators) in this river. We can’t go fishing
here they will eat us both.” The hunter looked closely in the lake, “There’s no Caiman here,
you’re just being paranoid” he said laughing. “Look again” Said the blind man and as the hunter
rolled his eyes and looked again, and to his surprise he saw two eyes staring right at him, not
too far away was a 20 foot long Caiman watching every move. The hunter backed away saying
“How could you tell, they’re so quiet” The blind man faced towards his hand, which was in the
water, “When they move around it causes motion in the water, I could feel the force of the water
pushing against my hand when they moved around. You can tell how close they are too” The
hunter was very impressed, never would he have done that.

They went on, still unsuccessful to find any food. Until the blind man said “stop! There is a huge
tree boa, right above you! It’s most likely 5 feet long and it will pounce.” The hunter was
frightened as he looked up a saw a huge green boa staring right at him. He dropped and rolled
out of the way, then he grabbed his bow and shot the snake, killing it instantly. “How could you
tell? Asked the hunter, the blind man said “well, a twig snapped from the tree above and landed
on my foot, I heard a hissing too so I knew it was a snake above us, the twig was quite heavy so
I knew it must have been a big snake.” The hunter realized the blind man was actually quite
helpful after all.

The snake wasn’t enough to feed 3 people still, so they found another river, that wasn't full of
caiman’s and the hunter showed the blind man how to make a fish trap, they set up 2 traps and
left them for about 2 and a half hours. When they got back the hunter took the traps out of the
river and in the hunters trap was a small catfish which would only last 1 person, but in the blind
man’s trap was this huge eel that was so big it barely fit in the trap! The hunter was a bit jealous
and so what he did was he took the small catfish and said “Congratulations you caught a catfish!
And he gave it to the blind man. While he took the eel and claimed that he caught it.

On the way home the hunter started to feel guilty and regretful of what he had done. The blind
man had saved him so many times and this is how he repaid him? The hunter asked the blind
man, “You are so wise, and so smart. Tell me, why there is so much bad and evil in this world?”
The blind man sighed and said “it is because of people like you, who do wrong and lie to
others.” The hunter was ashamed of himself, the blind man had known all along. He wanted

to take back everything he had done and said. “I’m very sorry for the way I acted, I shouldn’t
have done all those things, I should have let you come all along, I should respect everyone
more. Please forgive me” The hunter said regretfully as he swapped the fish back. Then he
added, “If there’s so much evil, how can we fix it?” The blind man faced him and said “we can
fix it by becoming people like you, who own up to their mistakes and apologize.” The hunter
smiled in relief and they became very close from that day on.

Practices With The Girls Rugby Team!

Here is a photo of the A netball team and the girls rugby team practicing together. The netball team joined into the practices to help out and learn some stuff about rugby. We learnt how to tackle and how to fend off a player. Doing these practices really does help us to learn more tactics.
